“There Can Be No Moral ‘Minimum Wage’ That Is Less Than A ‘Living Wage’” Who are the job creators in our modern economy? Is it the super rich who demand tax cuts, loopholes and corporate bailouts? No! That is one of the big lies being repeated in our nation. Job creation comes from demand for goods and services. The decline in jobs is directly related to the decline in the buying power of the middle class. As we disassemble the labor unions, jobs with living wages, pensions and insurance, the middle class cannot pay for goods and services and the economy grinds down under the weight of corporate greed and inept government. The church must again raise the voice of the prophets who demanded fair treatment of the laborers among them. That is our heritage and our responsibility.
