There are a number of trends that happen across social media, and a lot of them dont always make sense. Well, as of Oct. 28, 2013, there is a brand new trend on Facebook and it is simply known as the giraffe riddle. It is the very reason that many of your friends profile picture has been changed to a giraffe, and actually, it may not be totally accurate. First of all, if you dont want to know any more about the riddle and want to figure it out for yourself, then stop reading now. the giraffe riddle will indeed be SPOILED very soon. The Chicago Tribune touched on this new phenomenon going around, and actually had the same frame of mind that this reporter does. Lets start off with the riddle itself: It’s 3 a.m., the doorbell rings and you wake up. Unexpected visitors! It’s your parents and they are here for breakfast. You have strawberry jam, honey, wine, bread and cheese. What is the first thing you open? The way it is being passed around Facebook is that someone will post this as their status and have you send a private message with the answer. If you get it right; good for you. If you get it wrong, then youve got to change your profile picture to a giraffe for a week. Hence, the giraffe riddle. Its a simple riddle that many will answer quickly and not think about, but its not that hard anyway. It just requires a small bit of thought. The answer to the giraffe riddle is the door. It isnt one of the food items listed as the riddle wants you to think that it is. The problem going around is that many are saying that the door isnt the answer, but that you first open your eyes. Here is where theres a problem with the answer being that you open your eyes first. The giraffe riddle asks the question after it already says that you have woken up. If youre awake, than your eyes are already open but you still have yet to open the door for your parents. With that, make sure that you answer the door whenever you are partaking in the answering of the giraffe riddle. If someone tells you that youre wrong, simply enjoy keeping your own profile picture and knowing that you were right and they were wrong. By the way, in no way is this reporter upset that he got the riddle supposedly wrong. There are many different ways to interpret the giraffe riddle, and everyone thinks in some form or another that their answer is correct. Its all in good fun.
