There are all kinds of parasites and infections that can bother your pet’s ears. Here is just a little glimpse of what we may see under the microscope when we perform an ear cytology to find out the cause of a pet’s ear problem. Using a cotton swab we roll some otic debris onto a slide. Under an oil immersion lens we analyze the slide for potential bacteria, fungus, or mites. These are some ear mites (otodectes) swimming around.
