There are good people right here in Abilene, TX. This evening after putting gas in my bike I was settling down to my evening routine when the doorbell rang. An unusual occurrence I could not think of who it might be but after catching the dog and putting him where he couldnt attack I opened the door to find a young man complaining the picture he had didnt look much like me. Just took a second to realize he was holding my wallet. Taken aback by not realizing I had even lost it and here was someone returning it, my mind and social etiquette left me. I suppose the mind left me at the gas pump or more truthfully, it doesnt keep up with me as well as it once did. The young man no doubt went through some effort to locate my house as the streets here are somewhat confusing and all I could think of was handing him some of the money he had already decided to return to me. He would not accept the pitiful amount I offered which in retrospect should have been a lot more. Not appearing to take the amount as in insult, he was kind in his refusal and even wished me a good year. Dumbfound by my potential blunder I failed to ask for his name and I truly regret that but I will still offer my thanks here on FB. So if you hear someone talking about a dumb old geezer riding off on a motorscooter leaving his billfold in the gas lane at the Shell on Rebecca & Ridgemont please let him know he is a greatly appreciated and tell his mom and dad they did a good job.
