There are many times in life when we have to choose whether to turn right or left, whether to take a step forward or a step back, whether to go the extra mile or to take it slow, whether to continue a journey or take a detour, even whether to start a journey or not. Whatever we decide will affect our future decisions, our life! Bottom line is, our decisions shape us – our life, defines who we are, who we become, and ensures our sanity. But then again, destiny or karma is always there. We often times do not do what we WISH to do. But do what we OUGHT to do. Many a times these two are on the opposite spectrum – what we want to do and what we ought to do. The ought to do comes from our subconscious self and I would say has something to do with destiny. For instance I wish I was bold enough to throw caution to the wind and just follow happiness and my dreams. But something in me holds me against the very thought of it. Something in me tells me I should keep flipping the pages to reach the end without abandoning the book midway to start a new one. The blurb or the advertisement may look attractive and appealing and be full of promises. But unless one reads the entire text one cannot know what it really holds. So yes, I believe I am destined to be someone who is cautious, conscientious, and patient – to read to the end. I would like to read to the end knowing well that the pages might turn way too slower than I like, some pages might be utter rubbish, while some pages be completely wrong. The “what if” of the beauty of the book when it ends keeps me going without abandoning it. Also, the need to understand or to find out why the book did not live up to expectations can only be known when it is read. The need or craving to start the next book available is oftentimes appealing. But yes – I cannot read both of them together. It is fun to some extent trying to keep pace with two stories. But the reality is more than one book at a time will only confuse your judgement of all. So I keep turning the pages until it ends. I can never close it halfway between! That’s what I choose
