There are more cleanses on the market than I can keep track of. In general, I think its a fantastic idea to rid our bodies of the toxins we so often take in (without even realizing it) and refuel our bodies with all the foods that help us thrive. And for many people, a true detox or cleanse is a great idea to jump-start a healthy routine. For those who would prefer a more gradual acceptance of health for your mind and body, here are four simple suggestions: 1) EAT MORE GREENS! Leafy greens, especially those high in chlorophyll are extremely detoxifying (kale, collards, parsley, cilantro). The more of these we add into our diets (smoothies/juicing/salads, sautéing, roasting) less of the bad stuff will make its way into our mouths)… try it for a week and see if you notice a change in how you feel. 2). Eat more GELATINOUS PLANT FOODS - Chia sees for example. Not only are they packed with Omega-3s (which are fantastic anti-inflammatory and heart healthy agents) these seeds move through the digestive tract and naturally pick up soluble toxins along the way - yup! toxins released by the liver will get dumped into the small intestines and these little seeds will bind to the junk and pass them out as you.. well… pass them out :) 2) SLEEP !!!! its not overrated! getting more sleep actually metabolizes the cortisol in our bodies brought on by stress, and the more cortisol in your body, the more you will hang onto fat! 3). EXERCISE! And not the type where youre gym-obsessed.. even a brisk walk 3-4 times a week can do the trick :)
