There are so many good people in the LDS Church, and the church - TopicsExpress

There are so many good people in the LDS Church, and the church has done many good things though the years...BUT...it dissapoints me to see the organization go after people simply because they feel different and dare to ask questions or seek to record the experiences of those members who are marginalized. My ancestors helped establish Mormonism seven generations ago (eight, if you count the newest generation of Jarvis grand kids). The community made me who I am and was instrumental in constructing my paradigm and moral compass. There is was much to celebrate in the LDS Cuurch of my youth and I am happy that I maintained my Mormon identity even when I transitioned into my post-LDS life. When I hear news like this today, and when I see otherwise good people defending this kind of intimidation and manipulation, it casts the entire LDS community in a negative light: it tells me the church leaders are afraid of discussion and that rather than answer difficult questions, they simply toss out the questioning members. On a day like today, I am glad that I am still Mormon, but Im ecstatic that I am no longer LDS.
