There are times that things happen so fast that they seem a bit surreal. Im in a quiet place thinking of what happened this afternoon, yet a bit freaked out. My daughter saved a mans life today. We had just returned home. I had her drop me at the end of the drive to get the mail. As I turned towards the house I saw it all unfold. I could see my neighbor standing in my yard outside of her truck. I couldnt hear her because of the noise from the road, but I could tell she was out of control and screaming something. Suddenly Jacqueline ran from her car, pushed the lady over to the passenger side of the truck, and drove them through the yards towards my neighbors home about an 1/8th mile away (maybe.) I went running down the drive yelling Whats happening? As I got to Jacquelines car that wasnt under the carport yet. I saw that Syrus was still in his carseat, and the car was still running. As I looked to the neighbors both girls were quickly exiting the vehicle, running into the house. I got into the car and parked it, getting Syrus out and into the safety of the house. I began to frantically call my neighbors step son, whom I knew had gone to the woods to deer hunt today. After that, all I could do was watch to see what unfolded while whispering prayers. When Syrus asked, What happened, wheres Mommy? I already knew that she was being a hero, and I told him so. I watched as the neighbor lady ran to the road. We all live way back on the land, so our driveways are long, so I knew she was there to flag in the ...whomever was coming. An ambulance arrived about 10min later. Come to find out later, my neighbor had had a seizure, bit his tongue, and was on his back aspirating. My daughter, having a son with seizures, calmly went into action. Sweeping the mans mouth, placing him on his side, and calling 911. The neighbor lady had misplaced her phone, and was loosing all control. Jacqueline sent her to the road so that they would know at which country home to stop. I am profoundly proud of my daughter, and a bit emotional for her. She seemed adrenaline high when she returned, pacing and telling me the tale. Next was her need of a shower. What really got me was when she looked me in the eye with an assured intensity and said, He would have died if we hadnt come home when we did Mom.
