There arent many things in life that would get me out of the house - TopicsExpress

There arent many things in life that would get me out of the house before 7am, there arent a great deal of causes that id happily and proudly stand outside on a shitty day for hours and hours when I could stay in bed, but todays strike action is one of those things. I am proud to be standing up against the absolute ill treatment of my fellow workers, todays strike isnt about causing other workers an inconvenience, its about showing the uncaring government that despite their purely ideological attacks on our wages and their demonisation of our cause and our methods (which incidentally is the only recourse we have as the Tory government are the ones who are refusing to negotiate, not the unions), we stand proud and united for what we need and deserve. If you disagree with striking then youre disagreeing with the fundamental right of a worker to remove the only currency they have, their labour. We believe that due to the insulting lack of pay over the last 5 years, with pay freezes and rises that are much less than the rate of inflation, that theyre not paying enough for the work were doing and we have every right to want that readdressed, weve tried to negotiate and to try and bargain, asked to meet or arrange meetings and been refused or repeatedly cancelled on, most public sector workers are now paid 15% LESS than they were 5 years ago, were all made sacrifices but enough is enough, theyre bleeding people dry and forcing working people to poverty for their own evil politics, because they think some individual, who may or may not (definitely) have donated to their party, should be able to make a profit from doing the essential public services we provide. If you know anyone else who is striking today, offer them your support, its not a day off, its a protest, losing pay we really ant afford to lose, if your union is on strike today and you go in or if youre not a member of the union in your workplace, shame on you, how dare you benefit from the sacrifices your fellow workers have made over the last hundred years without doing your part. It is only through organising and grouping together that the working people of the world can make a difference, we are strong as one collective voice, every scab and every non-member weakens us, every bit of weakness is a chink in the armour that the employers will exploit to profit from our labour.
