There is a concerted effort by the BJP to promote Hindi as the National language. Narendra Modi tweets only in Hindi. Facts say that based on the 2001 Census only 25 % speak Hindi proper and say it is their mother language ---20 % speak dialects like Bhojpuri etc (which is totally different from Hindi) making a total of 45%. So 55% do NOT speak Hindi. Why is there such a terrible haste to thrust Hindi down our throats? What is the need to have a single official language?. According to the great BJP showpiece Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi This will dispel the perception that only English speakers are intelligent. !!!!! Bengalis are the second largest group in this regard as 8% of all Indians speak Bengali. Now the Gujarat High Court has said that there nowhere has it been stated that Hindi is our National language!!!!
