There is a difference between a king, and a good king. A good king rules not just as a good politician, but also as a good man. Power and strength are not the same...and one must never mistake the two. Many who are in power are in fact lacking in strength. These lords and ladies believe that their standings in a community are sustained through their power and egos. Thus they castrate themselves, their strength stagnating. And when the time of their power comes to an end, they claw at the scraps, reluctant to let go of the past, their perceived glory, revealing themselves to be weak rodents with gnashing teeth...spiraling down into an emptiness that they seek to fill with memories as insubstantial as shadows. A good king, or queen, knows humility, knows sorrow. A good king is not an unfeeling idol of gold or stone or steel...he is a man of flesh, acknowledging of his flaws and limitations. Rather than remain upon his platform above the common folk, a good king willingly sets aside his crown. He fears no descent from power...the strength of his soul emanates through him, giving light in any darkness.
