There is a live oak tree right outside my window in the back yard. I spend hours everyday writing, listing my items, and shipping all right from my chair at my desk where I have my computer. I look out the window and see its steady straight trunk. It give this part of the house shade from the summer sun. It houses the squirrels that gives Jackson something to worry about. It is there steady as a rock in heat, cold, rain, wind and storms. We have hackberry trees in the yard too and they are not so steady. One after another those hackberry tree have died and have had to be cut down and removed. You see the ice storms and the droughts have killed the hackberries but the live oak still stands. What is the difference - You can go and look around the ground around the live oak and the hackberries and see the difference. The live oaks roots go straight into the ground and the hack berries roots are shallow. The hackberries roots run along the top of the ground. The live oak is rooted deep into the ground. So when Texas ice storms and droughts come the hackberries just can not stand the pressure, the first disease comes along and they die. The live oaks roots go deep where the moisture is and they hang on and live. As a Christian we must be like the live oak and run our roots deep to weather the storms. We must pray, study the Word, and attend a Bible preaching church to root ourselves in the faith. If we do not do this we will be like the hackberry and keel over at the first sign of problems.
