There is a misconception that the french want you to speak french. Most of them in tourism dont because they like to practice their english. So the minute they see a passport from an english-speaking country, they are very reluctant to engage you in french. I figured out how to break this pattern. Speak english very awful. hadlike to know whah mah floight is deeeelayed and mumble it. They will look at you totally perplexed and reevaluate their ability to speak english. This is when the stage is all yours. Ive done it all day now and it works like a charm!!
