There is a reason were known as struggling artists - I was browsing around online at some galleries I have work with on consignment around the country... To see that I am owed a substantial amount from about five paintings which they have marked as sold on their website, but have failed to notify me about! And unfortunately this is a common occurrence! We STRUGGLE to get money out of galleries for work which we have done. They fail to notify us about selling our work. I am feeling completely irate and disillusioned right now... Why on EARTH should I continue with a business (my art) that I have put so many many hours and years into - to beg and plead to get paid?!! I am an ARTIST - I do not have the predisposition to fight with galleries about sold work. It is not in me. And I suppose that many artists are like me, and perhaps that is why it seems these galleries can get away with withholding payment. The emotional strain it takes for dealing with this does not seem worth the effort of being a professional artist.
