There is always an idea that when dealing with Africa - that you have to fashion it up. Make it look a certain way to be perceived in a certain way. Not for me. I am very clear about what I want to achieve. It was again Karl Lagerfeld who said Very few people who buy luxury goods live in real luxury. I agree with that. Today, there is an idea that everything has to be presented in a certain way. Fashion. Working on this next collection to me is about bridging the Gulf between African fashion and Textiles alongside African people and culture. There are many people who want to work with African Textiles but without acknowledging the African market or culture. When I started Fab Africa! as much as I tried with e-commerce it was not something that everybody liked. The fact is, I have canvassed to a broad range of people and this time it resonates with Africa. My mission is clear, with the next collection, at the end of the season, with what we sell, we will make a pledge, I will support other things that I want to do that will have a real effect on peoples lives. So there will be lots of arm twisting and discussion with retaillers to buy, so that we can give, That is what Fab Africa! to me is about. I have looked at all the data and this brand has a focus. I took my time, time away (if you want to call it that), to get things right. I encourage everybody to support Fab Africa! I also ask people to really think about Fashion and what we can achieve. Have a great weekend.
