There is no simple cure for all of your artistic problems. There - TopicsExpress

There is no simple cure for all of your artistic problems. There is no simple prescriptive answer that people can shell out for every response. However, one thing that I think is essential to understand is that everybody is going to give you different information that will often conflict or make no sense. One producer will tell you that content is more important than mixdown, another will say that without a good mixdown your ideas will get lost in translation. The weirdness here is that everybody is right and everybody is wrong. The only thing you can do is listen to people who you respect and trust to give you useful information, and take the bits and pieces that make the most sense to you. What I consider to be the most important aspect of music production might seem meaningless or trivial to somebody else, and both viewpoints are equally valid. The most important thing (in my opinion) is to always keep striving for your personal definition of quality. Dont be afraid to define what that quality may look like, so that you know what you want to improve, where to look, and which questions to ask. Just because somebody else tells you that synthesizing your own snare drum is an essential part of being a passable musician doesnt mean theyre right. Just because I tell you that I think its important to push boundaries doesnt mean you shouldnt be proud of your House track. Just remember to keep an open mind. Your own definition of quality, and the path you can take to get there both become apparent as you put in more dedicated hours into your craft, whatever that craft may be.
