There is something to be said about the people you meet on this journey. Matt was determined to take some laps around the unit where we ran into Robert, a husband/caregiver who I had met on the elevator during Matts last stay, and Alisha another BMT patient. Once you are in this fight, as a survivor, caregiver, or family member, you are part of a club. You have a special understanding of each other that makes this whole thing seem a little more bearable. We had a great visit from my friend Petra today that solidified all of that. I had to snap a photo of Alisha and Matt; its strange how the treatment can cause two people to look so similar. No contacts, so everyone is in glasses, masks, sweet bald heads, round faces from steroids and their poles of various names. Alisha has a Christmas tree donned with, by far, the most bags I have seen. She is at day +11 of her BMT and dealing with a number of things that Matt luckily avoided. The fact she was out and about was awesome, she is a true ass-kicker! Matt is going to spend another night here in the hospital where they can monitor him closely and make sure he is ready to come home. His stomach is a bit upset tonight and food doesnt sound awesome so they want to make sure all that is squared away before I take over. It will be a few days before we hear anything back on any other test results so the waiting game it will be! Thanks as always for all the love, Army!
