There was article published on Kidspot about us last night, and whilst it was a very funny piece, it opened up a discussion here about friendships & first impressions that we want to share with our community. To start off, we would like to clarify what we are all about. Playdate Australia was never about “dating” or matching mums. Our intention was to create a cool new way for mums to socialise whilst also providing an unstructured avenue for kids to play together. Now whilst we do acknowledge that there is a dating aspect to meeting new people - we do not believe you can predict who you are going to hit it off with based on an elaborate questionnaire. We do however think having afew commonalities and knowing a little about each other helps get the conversation started. But we are all for keeping an open mind - you may be surprised who you actually click with. Friendship is a complicated thing! We would love to hear your views on forming new friendships. Have you ever met someone you may have mentally dismissed, but turned out to be your new BFF, or someone you thought had potential for a budding new friendship, but quickly fizzled out? What qualities do you look for in a new friend post-kids?
