There were calls for evidence of agreement(s) communique, with only feeble and seemingly inconsequential responses. The proponents however insisted same exist even as they were met with serial denials. By proxy, official and even personal. Hard copies of purportedly signed documents reportedly disappeared. These and other scheming were enough to buy time for renegotiation of terms and here we are today. The zoning, agreements and communique no doubt remain intra-party affair. Guess they have handled it as such. These would have paled onto insignificance had our president disappointed those who had reservations on his capacity. Worse still he had made fewer genuine friends than he had acquired enemies. The threat of making country ungovernable by his fellow party men seem to find synergy in his capacity or lack of it. It became a roller coaster ride in declining security, periodic decimation of human resources and territorial loss. Allowing for some digression; Subsisting problems of corruption, declining education and self inflicted crisis in our health, economic and other sectors continue to flourish without hindrance owing to lack of objectively decisive efforts. Sure no one will remind me of new universities, when the existing ones continue to perform below par. A situation I liken to breeding more children with dwindling economic resources, quantity at the expense of quality. Suffice to note that some have actually suggested the merger of some the existing schools with campuses acquiring the status specialised colleges to engender quality, improve capacity, targeted and prudent investment and cut in overhead cost. Coming to the current situation, I am one of those who were circumspect on our Presidents capacity 4 years ago. Not because I feel better but out of realisation of the enormity of the task weighed against his antecedents. Governance is never a tea party, but for Nigeria it is some inch higher. Never the less I believed his emergence is a divine opportunity.
