There will be training and food for volunteers. SURVEY VOLUNTEERS: We need approximately 125 volunteers to work in teams with paid homeless guides, to interview homeless individuals for the Registry. It is best if volunteers can commit for all 3 days, but not absolutely necessary. Each team will work together in a designated predetermined geographical area the entire three days of the registry/survey gathering. To be part of a survey team, you will need to participate in a one-hour training session related to interviewing homeless people and completing the survey forms. DATA ENTRY: We need volunteers to fill 34 shifts per day (a total of approx. 65 shifts for Registry Week). Volunteers will enter the data collected after each survey day. This can be a one-shift or one-day commitment or multiple days and times. The hours needed are: PAID HOMELESS GUIDES: We anticipate hiring 65 homeless guides to help locate unsheltered homeless persons, to inform the team with cultural competency and provide entrée to known homeless encampments as possible, in addition to conducting surveys along with their team. Paid Homeless Guides must have recent street knowledge, be recommended as knowledgeable and trustworthy by a homeless service provider, and must commit to the project for the entire three days. Paid Homeless Guides must attend a training during the week of March 31 to be eligible for the project; they will be paid $10/hour for their work, including for the training. All payment will be at the end of the Wednesday shift. DEPLOYMENT CENTER LEAD VOLUNTEERS: We need 2-3 lead volunteers for each deployment site (about 15 total) to staff deployment. Deployment lead volunteers will help set up for volunteer trainings during the week of March 31 and/or assist at deployment centers each survey morning (food/supplies setup, cleanup and help with survey volunteer questions). We also need help cleaning up each site on a daily basis. Each deployment center will assign staff to supervise volunteers, to be in charge of overall management each morning to help get survey volunteers out the door and download photos/collect surveys when they return. OTHER OPPORTUNITIES TO CONTRIBUTE: If you are an individual, business or corporation that would like to sponsor or provide any of the following, please contact Jenny Abramson, Continuum of Care Coordinator, at 707-5657548 to obtain our specific sponsorship materials. Sponsorship opportunities include: For all volunteers: sign up at sonoma-county-homelesscount.wikispaces/home. Paid Guides may register only through provider recommendation, forms will be forwarded. For volunteers and sponsors who would like to be updated on the final results of Sonoma County Vulnerability Registry Week: Tuesday, April 15th – Public Briefing on Survey Results for the Registry Week, part of the Winter Emergency Activities Report to the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors, by the Sonoma County Community Development Commission. Location: Board of Supervisors Chambers, 575 Administration Drive, Santa Rosa.
