Theres a lot of truth to this. I get that a lot of people dont agree with Obamas policies and politics ( I dont either). I get that a lot of people didnt vote for him and dont like him at all. But I dont ever recall seeing the office of president itself being so disrespected. I wasnt a bush fan. I didnt like the guy and felt he was elected unfairly. I thought the Iraq war was BS. I thought he was inarticulate and not very intelligent. But at the end of the day, he was still my president and I respected that fact. I criticized his position on certain issues, but I didnt insult him and his family personally... Because, well, he was the president. He was elected by the people, which means he gets to be the president of all people, even those who didnt vote for him. I respected that system and the results of that system. I think that any president, no matter how much you dislike or disagree with him, deserves a certain minimal level of respect and dignity. And I think for the first time in history, we have dipped below that level. Racial slurs are common, accusations of being anti-American, calling him hitler, disrespecting the mans wife. I would NEVER have done that to Bushs wife. Something is different now. Every side that loses always accused the opposing sides president of ruining the country and always predicts that in for years the country will be,an apocalyptic waste land and that ex destroying this country and our founding fathers would roll over in their graves. Lets be real. We hear that shit every 4 years, regardless of which side wins. But this new level of disrespect is something I havent seen before and I think we should be ashamed of it.
