Theres good and bad everywhere...for those who have ever wore the badge, (me included) knew it was a possibility they would not return home to their family. An officer must make split second decision...the decisions between life and death. Its a sad world we live in today where there is very little respect for authority and the law. Yes, there is corruption in the field, but that is a very, very small percentage. The other 99.9% of those who choose to serve, do stand by the motto...To Serve and Protect the Community. An officer will not get rich during their Tenure and most have to take on a second job to support their family. They do it because of a calling....a calling to help make a difference; to ensure the safety of the common people. For those who despise a uniformed officer, more than likely have had a negative contact because they have broken, (or is breaking) the law and / or have chosen to resist and not follow simple, commonsense command or instruction to ensure EVERYONES safety. For every action, there is ALWAYS a reaction. Its the reaction that people remember without knowing the full story. Okay, I will stop and step off my soap box ....
