Theres just something about little girls and their daddys. They think we can solve all the important problems. Things like fixing their broken doll or kissing their boo boo and making it better. The summer of 86 was dry. The corn crop was burning up, the pastures were turning brown and there was serious concern that the farm well would run dry. So I ask my little four year old, I called her Sunshine, to ask God in her bedtime prayers to make it rain. She did and He did. Some tropical depression moved up from the Gulf, parked itself on top of this property and rained itself out. For four days it rained. There was concern that the creek that boarders the south of this farm would overflow its banks and wash away the corn crop. So I ask my little Sunshine to ask God to make it stop. She did and He did. The corn began to grow again, the pastures turned green and the farm was saved. So the next night I said to her, Sunshine, daddy needs a new pick-up truck. Didnt work but I had to give it a shot. Its another hot, dry summer here with no significant rainfall since early June. Its hard to farm in a drought but these kind of conditions bring back fond memories to me. To a time when a little Sunshine thought she could make it rain and thought I hung the moon. Thoughts from a Dusty Tractor Seat, Randy
