Theres more to life than what you see. Pay attention to your surroundings, the world is more beautiful than we give it credit sometimes. Its okay to notice the negative things, but to dwell on them is a waste of time and energy. Notice the negatives, and you will be astonished when you see the positives...and when you do see something positive, go ahead and make a big deal! Smile and cheer and tell all your loved ones, because that means were one step closer to making the world a much better place. This world could be so different, a much happier place if we all focused our energy together. Not to say we have to suit up and start rallies, but just simply smile at someone. Why do we walk by people and not say anything? Just ignore people because we dont know them personally so its a social norm to avert your eyes and not say anything? For goodness sakes people, were the same damn species!! How happy and intrigued do dogs get when they see another dog? All of this sparked in me while I was walking down the hallway at Brookdale a little while ago. A professor walked by me and happened to look in my direction, so I smiled. He stopped where he was, smiled back, and said politely Hi! how are you? I responded back Good, thank you! How are you? Great! Thank you! I feel like I really made a difference in that mans day, even if only for a brief moment. Every time we pass another human being, a feeling comes over us -- whether it apathy (like, who cares?), or the feeling to smile, or the feeling to glance and then glance away and hide. What are we hiding from? Its not to say that we are immediately going to tell that person everything about ourselves and our lives... but why is it weird to interact with the other human beings we see in our daily lives. Go ahead and say Hi to someone you see when youre walking down the street or in the grocery store, go ahead and make a difference! You just might surprise yourself!
