Therese has written this in answer to those who believe the BLDD was responsible for the mailings and signs for the referendum. As a member of the committee, I can assure the community that the decisions made were those of the committee and not the BLDD. They were consultants only. We reworked many of the plans in accordance with the remarks from the public meetings and tried to present the most reasonable plan to the public. No, we will not get everything we would like. But, we focused attention on the most needed areas of improvement. Of course the BLDD has a vested interest. Would you have preferred that we pay an upfront fee for consultation to the tune of thousands of dollars? I didnt agree with every suggestion from the BLDD either, and voiced my concerns. But, the final product was a collaborative effort of El Paso-Gridley representatives who spent much time and effort on this project. If you disagree with the end result, then vote no. However, do not cast aspersions on the people or the process. Those of us on the referendum committee were committed to doing what we thought was best for EPG schools.
