These are the deeds of a TYRANNICAL STATE. This is Tarisai Marikopo, an Epworth resident who sustained injuries on her right eye when she was arrested and assaulted on Friday 26 September 2014 when she questioned the assault and arrest of her minor child Shupikai Marikopo aged 17 years. Tarisai was attended to on Saturday after his lawyer Marufu Mandevere of Kadzere, Hungwe&Mandevere Legal Practitioners, a member of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights tenaciously fought to convince the Zimbabwe Republic Police to refer her to Harare Central Hospital for treatment. The arrest and assault was effected as Epworth Local Board authorities aided by the police demolished peoples houses on Friday 26 September RAZING EPWORTH: RESIDENTS LOSE HOUSES AND SUSTAIN INJURIES ZIMBABWEAN police on Sunday 28 September 2014 released 10 Epworth residents who endured two nights in detention after they were arrested on Friday 26 September 2014 following the demolition of houses instituted by the Epworth Local Board. Police in Epworth, where the 10 residents had been detained since their arrest on Friday 26 September 2014, released the detainees into the custody of their lawyer Marufu Mandevere of Kadzere, Hungwe&Mandevere Legal Practitioners, a member of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights pending their appearance in court on Monday 29 September 2014 on yet to be confirmed charges as the police were contemplating pressing public violence charges against them. The Epworth residents were arrested on Friday 26 September 2014 after Epworth Local Board authorities who were aided by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) demolished some houses in the high density dormitory town which they deemed illegal. The ZRP is claiming that some of the Epworth residents who were brutally assaulted by the law enforcement agents assaulted police officers as they resisted the demolition of their houses. On Saturday, Mandevere tenaciously fought to convince the Zimbabwe Republic Police to refer Tarisai Marikopo, one of the Epworth residents to Harare Central Hospital for treatment. Marikopo sustained injuries from an assault perpetuated by the ZRP and notably one Sanyika and some Epworth Local Board officials as she questioned the assault and arrest of her minor child Shupikai Marikopo aged 17 years old. Tarisai, who was treated and returned into police custody in Epworth is expected to be taken to court on Monday 29 September 2014 together with nine other residents although they have not yet been charged. Meanwhile, Epworth remains tense amid fears that the ZRP could deploy police officers on Sunday night as retribution for the alleged assault of law enforcement agents.
