These are the shoes I wear. When i first put them on they were so uncomfortable. They caused pain and I was very aware of them. These shoes I wear have canvased miles across hospital floors. At first i could not find anything pretty about these horrible shoes, yet these were now the only pair I had. These shoes have caught fallen tears as I sat, leaned over with my hands on my knees, praying for a miracle. These shoes are not stylish nor do they fit in with everyones perception about how shoes should look but they are mine. These shoes have been thrown in anger and been stomped in frustration. These shoes can carry on even when I feel like quitting. These shoes are a trusted friend. Not many people could wear these shoes without complaining but I wear them now like a second skin. These shoes are scuffed and the soles are worn but they tell a story. a story of stepping into a very unexpected role as a special needs parent. Feeling like a victim yet emerging a survivor.
