These boys are just tooooo darn cute!!! When Jim passed away, I bought each boy a v-e-r-y realistic stuffed rabbit and told them that before going to heaven, Papa had left each of the boys a bunny as a reminder that Papa loved and would miss them very much. Nate has always clung to his bunny and, despite the fact that hes as smart as a whip, he suspends reality and believes that his bunny comes to life in the nighttime. Today, Nate took his bunny to school and upon dismissal, accidentally, left the it behind in his classroom. When Nate realized that his bunny missing, he was on the verge of tears, pleading with me to go back to the school and get it. We had a doctors appointment in Buffalo and going back to the school was just not an option. Nate began to cry and said that when Fluffy comes alive tonight, he will need food and water and no one will be at the school to take care of the him. Nate was worried sick!! (So-o-o-o-o proud of Ty. I was certain that hed jump all over it and tell Nate that stuffed animals can NOT come alive, but, as much as Im sure he wanted to set Nate straight, he bit his tongue and kept mum. Good brother!!) In order to calm Nate, I phoned Nates former pre-school teacher, (whom Ive become close to) and left a message, explaining our dilema and asking if shed please take Nates bunny to her house tonight and make sure that it is fed and watered (wink...wink)....While leaving my message, Nate piped up and said, And tell her that Fluffy r-e-a-l-l-y LOVES carrots!! Ask her if she has any carrots!! When we got home from the doctor, there was a message on my answering machine(from Mrs. Shipley), reassuring Nate that she had gone back to the school and rescued Fluffy, brought him to her house, fed him carrots and some water and promised to make him a cozy bed for sleeping. She promised to take v-e-r-y good care of the bunny and then return him to Nate in the morning. Thinking that Mrs. Shipley was just playing along, I called to thank her for saving the day. I was blown away when she told me that she actually GOT INTO HER CAR and DROVE BACK to the school to get Fluffy!!! She wanted to keep her promise to Nate!!!! Pre-school and primary teachers are truly angels in disguise...the lengths they will go to for their babies is amazing!!! Love you, Mrs. Shipley!!!!!!!
