They will govern. And it is going to be some of the most - TopicsExpress

They will govern. And it is going to be some of the most frightening draconian legislation to come down the pike in our lifetime. The only recourse we have left is President Obama and his power of veto. At least we have him on the federal level. We in Texas have no one to keep the Republicans checked and balanced. You cant blame the Republicans. You cant blame the people who boted for the Republicans. They did what they were supposed to do. If you are inclined to point figures, I suggest you start looking within. At first I was just focusing on turnout. But that would be too easy. From East coast to West coast, Dems made ridiculous campaign strategy. It is impossible to separate yourself from the President or the key issues. You look fake to Independents and base Dem voters (who support President Obama and his policies) are not going to bother giving you the time of day. Straight talk here. I dont give a rats ass who I piss off. If you cant handle the truth, take a hike. Here it goes. I knew that we were going to go down in flames last night at the state convention. Democrats dont win in Texas because they dont want to win. Im not talking about volunteers. The volunteers are the ones who manage to keep me motivated. Im talking about the internal party infrastructure. It has been broken for years. We have certain people who like the perks that come with their official title, but do not support/promote their local candidates. They ignore certain areas of the county until the very last minute. They made no effort to communicate with Dems across their district until after they were called out at the convention. They like being big fish in a little pond. Its their comfort zone. We had a chance to replace the do-nothings with energetic and competent leadership. But they called in favors and managed to influence the vote. So we got stuck with the same absentee leadership that weve had for 20 years. Still no change in our internal party infrastructure. We wont get the chance to change that again for another 2 years. This election went down like all the others. Dems overall did well in Dallas County, (minus HD/SD races). But not in east Dallas County. Not in SD2 where we should have made important changes. Amazing that with all these people who are supposed to know so much that they havent figured out that in order to for Dems to have a snowball chance in hell at winning in Texas, that SD2 is going to be what makes or breaks it. Its basic math. Read the census reports. Look at the demographics The potential is there. But there is no leadership in SD2. Lather-Rinse-Repeat If the broken internal party infrastructure doesnt change, then neither does this state. I said it at the convention. And Im saying it again. Until this changes, Texas will not turn blue, purple, or pink. It will only get deeper blood red. And that is exactly what happened last night.
