Things to remember... 1.Hijab is a personal struggle for the sake of Allah. There is no third party involved. 2.Hijab is not just a piece of cloth on our head. Hijab represents our physical modesty, verbal modesty, intellectual modesty, our humility and our choice to actively worship and please our Creator alone. 3.Wearing skinny jeans does not necessarily nullify the meaning behind hijab, wearing loose hijabs doesn’t invalidate what the hijab truly entails. 4.Intention is what matters. Our intention. You don’t know my intentions nor do you understand the deepest parts of my heart. Therefore your opinion on whether or not my hijab is deemed ‘acceptable’ is irrelevant. 5.The hijab is to struggle for the sake of Allah. You do not know my struggles therefore you do not need to judge my struggles. 6.Wearing makeup doesn’t necessarily deem one’s hijab to be void of any significance or importance.. 7.Youtube hijab tutorials have been, are, and will continue to be a means for young girls and women to start wearing hijab because when we see other women exude the most amazing amount of confidence and when we see them radiate with pride whilst carrying themselves in a respectable and down to earth manner, it makes us think, ‘maybe I can be like that too if I wear it’. So no these sisters are not ‘putting themselves out there and being immodest’. Please check yourself. 8.The Quran asks both genders to lower their gaze because it is better for them. Both genders are responsible in that regard. Both. Not just the woman. 9.Chastising women who wear the hijab ‘inappropriately’ only highlights your own ego’s weaknesses. You have a standard, but we have our own struggles and we aim to make the most of where we stand in our lives in a given moment in terms of our imaan, we strive to please Allah, not his judgmental creation. 10.Feel free to give sound naseeha to us. But educate yourself in the etiquette of doing so first to avoid harsh backlash. Basically, don’t be a douche about it. 11.Make dua. 12.And finally, refrain from watching sisters online as they try and teach young girls and women how to wrap a hijab around their head. Refrain from even searching ‘hijab’ on google. Refrain from giving yourself a means to be arrogant. Oh, and move on with your life.
