Thinking about what my beautiful Dad gave me and taught me as I grew up.... He taught me to sing and play guitar, to speak in public and to use my words to uplift and entertain. My Dad taught me to love my Mum as the queen she was, to love my Nan Kura (his mum in law) as the matriarch she is, my Pop John Shields (his father in law) as the head of the whanau, my Nanny Eva (Dads Mum) as the beautiful women I will get to meet on the other side, my Ganny Willie (Dads Dad) as the staunch leader I will always remember him as and to protect my sisters and brother as the taonga they will always be to me. My Dad installed a respect for The Most High in to my life, and even tho I wandered away from God for a while, because of my Dad I was able to find my way back to Heavenly Father... Where I should always have been. My Dad taught me to stand up for the rights of those who were being stood over by others... Because of my Dad, I am comfortable with my role in MANA and I look forward to representing my electorate in parliament and making a better place for ALL in our country. My Dad is a great leader, both in his church and in our whanau... He humbly allows me to sit in front of him on the pae tapu when we are at the marae, cos he knows that because he taught me how to LISTEN AND OBSERVE, there are skills that I have that he didnt get the chance to acquire. My Dad is a REAL MAN... My Dad is my best friend... I love my Dad Charles Nikora, I am proud, and always will be, to be YOUR son
