Thinking about whether to bother breeding my two girls again next - TopicsExpress

Thinking about whether to bother breeding my two girls again next year! Tui gave birth on 4th of November and one side of her udder is SO low the kids cannot drink of it without help! Shes not keen, as its sensitive (of course) and so twice a day I have to restrain and hobble her to help them. Not much fun for anyone, but she doesnt seem to carry a grudge as she comes for cuddles and back rubs afterwards. My back is not coping well with it though. The second, Poppy, gave birth on Friday the 14th, and seemed to have similar problems with her udder. To my intense relief when I came into the barn this morning I found both sides looking equally drained. They must have figured it out over night. My worry is that one year I will end up with four kids and no working udder! And, is Tuis daughter likely to have inherited the bad udder gene? I would like to keep her and maybe in a couple of years time breed her. Just a few thoughts to get out of my head, Im having too convoluted monologues and Im scaring my children! ;-)
