Thinking out loud here: when did the word emotional come to mean tears, crying, etc.? There are so many emotions, but now when someone says you can see the emotion, it always means someone is crying. For heavens sake, look up the word emotional and see what you get. Heres what I got: 1. A mental state that arises spontaneously rather than through conscious effort and is often accompanied by physiological changes; a feeling: the emotions of joy, sorrow, and anger. 2. Such mental states or the qualities that are associated with them, especially in contrast to reason: a decision based on emotion rather than logic. Yes, I know; Ive got too much time on my hands.
