Third-place and honorable mention honors at tonights 59th Annual Florida Bar Media Awards at the Florida State Capitol belonged to WTSP News 10 in Tampa and WGCU Public Radio in Ft. Meyers, respectively. WTSP reporter Noah Pransky produced the piece entitled, Short Yellows and the Red Light Fight, which exposed red-light camera abuses in Florida. Pransky discovered the state changed a little-known law that made yellow lights shorter, thus creating millions in additional state revenue for red-light citations. Heres a link to the piece: bit.ly/1rjD1yo WGCU received an Honorable Mention for their story entitled, Assistant U.S. Attorney Retired After 22 Years, which examined the life and career of former Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney Doug Molloy. The story was written by Amy Tardif, and heres a link: bit.ly/1ufhUzO Neither Noah or Amy could attend this evening, but we understand that award-winning reporters are busy people!
