This Friday at Eastlake Elementary in Moore, Oklahoma, The Bella Foundation SPCA is being recognized for the work done by our volunteers during the May 20th tornado and the days after. We are deeply honored and can’t wait to meet the students at Eastlake. At the same time, we will be introducing Bella’s Book Buddies. Like many similar programs, our volunteers will be visiting local grade schools with some of our rescue dogs and therapy dogs giving students an opportunity to read with them. These programs are highly effective in helping kids overcome reading problems by giving them a non judgmental reading partner. Plus, reading to a dog is just fun! This program is very close to our hearts because it not only spreads the importance of literacy but also give us an opportunity to educate about animal welfare.
