This (IMHO) would be a classical example of shorin ryu Naihanchi dynamics. Youll notice it looks more or less like a lot of high level Shorin ryu practitioners. I think a lot of people will watch this for the first time and not even notice the hip motion because it is fairly subtle (almost internalized)... but if you watch it in slow motion a few times you will see he is actually using basically the same principles as outlined by Chris Denwood shinshii, just not slowed down, emphasized, and broken down for clarity. This is why I say it is inherent in the stance and human biomechanics. Its always been there... It just isnt always spelled out in detail for students to easily process... Admittedly this is more subtle and slightly different (Ive never seen two karateka who move exactly the same way, so I wouldnt put too much weight on that) but the underlying principles are there. https://youtube/watch?v=Jy96Sh6FckY
