This Istanbul experience has been an amazing journey. Ill blog a lot about it when I get home as there is a lot on my mind. Mostly, Im just really glad I came. And I came nervously. It was a long way from home and in a part of the world that made me a bit uncomfortable. Once again, the eARThshaking art teacher found that when she stretches her comfort level absolutely fantastic, wonderful experiences happen. They arent always good.....life can be really raw sometimes....and we saw some of that here.........but we saw mostly happiness and also I saw a place where people of different races and religions live together in harmony. I have met the most wonderful, kindest, most loving, do-anything-for-you people in the people of Istanbul. What an incredible blessing this trip has been. It blew away every stereotype that I had....I guess from the media....who knows. I will never forget this trip, the people, the colors, the culture, the FOOD, the learning of history, the architecture, the kindness of so many people, and the gentleness of Istanbul...nor the new friends we have made, both from here and around the world. Chloe and I enjoyed our mother daughter time so much and my daughter amazed me at how wonderfully she absorbed the world around her here. We are both looking forward to coming home though....no matter how far away you roam....there is no place like home.
