This afternoon I visited with my adopted Chilean mom - Sister - TopicsExpress

This afternoon I visited with my adopted Chilean mom - Sister Bernarda Tunoñ Silva at the Schoenstatt campus in Bellavista in La Florida. It was a happy reunion after 16 years since I departed the shores of the Andean nation. As always, she worried whether I had had lunch and commented after all these years my face has not changed. She reminded me about the importance of prayer the life that she has dedicated herself to and led me to the Schoenstatt Shrine. She had to pray for her lindo Negrito and show me off to all her sisters in the convent. Of course some of them I knew and they knew me as a skinny little boy who had arrived in Chile in 1996 from Sierra Leone. They shared very many fond memories of my days in Chile and how I fell ill and had an appendicitis operation and how the nurses were excited to treat a young black man. That was then and I remember those nurses to this day. I might meet one tomorrow. Like a mother, she wanted to know everything - had so many questions and then she said in Spanish after all these years I still carry you into heart. You are my son. God has a way of bringing people together. You were sick and you were crying in your room when I came to visit you and you could barely speak Spanish. You were too young to leave home and something told me I had to care for you and since then I have always felt a responsibility to you. Tu eres mi niño querido. I smile and said to her now that you have seen me you should not die. Then she took me and showed me where she will be laid to rest if she passes away. We went saw the ground and I said - whatever happens make sure your sisters in the convent have my details and let them Inform your son before any burial. I thank God for Sr. Bernarda - my adopted mom. I hope she has many more years to live with good health. Te prometo mami - permanecemos unidos hoy e siempre. I thank God for the love of my two moms and their constant prayers. The heart of a mother is special. May you all find love, genuine love that goes beyond boundaries.
