This afternoon I went to have tea with Eric Tan at our favorite prata shop. A Singaporean recognized us and walked up to us and shake our hands. He gave us words of encouragement. Although he expressed dismay that both of us are currently out of partisan politics without a platform, he still urged us to fight on. At the end of the conversation, he offered to pay for our tea and prata as an appreciation and thanks for our courage and contribution towards opposition politics. We were unable to stop him and gladly accepted his treat eventually. At times we do have doubts about the worthiness of our involvement and engagement in opposition politics for the past decade but from time to time, such open expression of appreciation of gratitude by strangers whom we hardly know somewhat reaffirm our beliefs and resolves in our little struggle for a better Singapore.
