In what seems like an obvious attempt to get worldwide publicity for his brand of supposed spiritual enlightenment, Eubert Angel, known as the “Zimbabwean prophet”, has gone on the record to announce that Liverpool will win the Premier League this season. Eubert Angel, who is reported by SuperSport to be a “self-confessed Manchester United fan”, has tapped into his unique relationship with God to find out who will win the Premier League, announcing: Arsenal being on top means nothing. The next games you are winning none. Liverpool, I am with you this year and God has shown me he is returning you to your glory days. What has elevated this story from being the nonsense preaching of a crazy person, to being re-reported across the globe, is Eubert Angel’s history in supposedly forecasting the future. According to folklore, back in 2012 Angel, who started his ministry in Manchester, England, prophesied (or guessed if you prefer) that Chelsea would beat Liverpool to win the FA Cup a few hours before kickoff by shouting “Chelsea! Chelsea!” in the build up to the game. He went on to say the score would be 2-1, before giving an exact description of how the goals would be scored. He was at it again last season when he told his congregation the winner of the 2012-13 title race would be Manchester United. That prediction, however, was issued “days before the season ended” according to the Zimbabwean Chronicle. Moreover, Eubert Angel appears to have garnered more credibility after it was reported that the self-proclaimed prophet correctly predicted the exact day, date and time that Nelson Mandela would die. Eubert Angel is also said to have made the same forecast for the death of Margret Thatcher. For the record, Liverpool were currently in fifth place in the Premier League when this came out, six points behind leaders Arsenal.
