This article is a brief yet perfect depiction of our cultural idea of marriage. Individualism and a relative understanding of happiness will logically lead to this. If YOU arent HAPPY then do whatever you have to to change it. The big problem is that this usually leads to solutions that dehumanize self and others and ironically take us farther from happiness. Happiness must have an absolute standard and must be intimately connected to who we are as humans. We are the bearers of the Divine Image, we are communal and connected to one another. This article, as well as pretty much all of Western pop culture refuses to accept the most fundamental aspects of defining humanity. How can we be happy listening to their advice then?
