This article sums up my disdain for the Ice Bucket Challenge perfectly (as well as many other awareness causes). Millions of dollars go towards finding a pharmaceutical cure but we already know what causes these diseases, therefore a true cure comes from prevention. We do not need to develop a drug to treat the symptoms we need to remove the toxic causes in our everyday environment and theses diseases will not occur in the first place! Blindly throwing money at the problem is never the solution. The perpetual meme of fighting diseases with no known cause has become the most successful cause-marketing strategy of our time, with billions of dollars raised without appreciable yield for the ultimate outcome: saving lives....
