This big-hearted South Carolina teen has worked with faith groups in her area to create a program to support foster families and children/teens. She did it as a Girl Scout project -- go, Girl Scouts! Money quote: “That is something very close to my heart. When children are placed into DSS custody and into a foster home, they usually have nothing but the clothes on their backs. It is really stressful for the family getting a new child and having nothing for hem, because a lot of times you have no time to prepare for their arrival. “For instance, we got my sister right out of the hospital an hour after they called us to see if we would take her, so we literally had nothing for her.”
