This characters name is Fadila van der Ven. Sometimes referred to simply as van der Ven; and sometimes merely by the first syllable of his last name. I really tried to make that van (i.e., use of lower case consistent with his full name), but it just didnt look like a name. It didnt stand out like a name should. So his nickname is Van, with a capital V. Now I have to go through 16,000 words and make sure I got it that way every single time, but ONLY for the nickname, not for the full last name.
