This chronic asthma has been getting the better of me for over a month now. That coupled with fever and malaria, not to mention some teeth pulled out and replaced. I missed several of my classes and my students inbox me occasionally to wish me well aside from asking if we are doing okay for the whole semester. I tell them we are, judging from the heap of creating writing folders and assignments I see on my desk at home. Meantime, I am urging my younger colleagues to continue scouting the world for some good people who can help us teach literature in a Papua New Guinean environment, now that a couple of us are on the verge of retirement. The challenges are as exciting as a Papua New Guinean suddenly finding himself in New York meaning to teach literature to the Americans. He/she would not be alone, of course, as Manhattan is a jungle like PNG etc etc... And already I am beginning to get tired... Im even missing Milne Bay Day today, but feeling positively assured that the day will turn out to be a memorable one like those of the past...because it is, as you have guessed, organized by a UPNG Milne Bay crowd!
