This day in GLBT history Oct. 6, 1998 A young man was brutally beaten, pistol whipped, tied to a fence, and left for dead. Lacerations covered his face, the .357 used to beat him, struck him with enough force to literally crush his brainstem. Found 18hours later, he spent the next six days in the hospital barely clinging to life. On October twelfth, 21 year old Matthew Shepard, passed on. An inexcusible act of violence, simply because he was Gay. This is our world, lets stand together to end bigotry, hatred, and disparaging discrimination. We are all cut from the same cloth. Its time we embrace, empower, and inspire one another. The future of humanity rests in our hands. RIP Matthew, you will never be forgotten. #matthewshepard #gayhatecrime #matthewshepardfoundation #noh8
