This goes out to everyone who is unhappy in their current situation (marriage, job, place, attitude, you name it). Make today the day you take your first step toward changing that situation. Life is way too short, and way too beautiful, to live in an unhappy situation. But even ridding yourself of what is causing you stress, anger, or sadness will not magically make you happy. It is a conscious choice to be happy. So, the first step you take today should be gaining control over what is inside of you. Once you gain control of what is inside, the outside will fall into place. Realize the significance of your emotions. Your pain is a symptom. It is there for a reason. It is telling you that something is wrong. Find a calming space to figure out what is causing this pain. I often do this when Im walking or driving. I actually talk out loud to myself as though Im in a therapy session. Of course, I live in the mountains...talking to yourself while on a walk in the city is less advisable :) But I list my problems out loud - okay, this is what is bothering me. What can I do to fix this? What are my options? Whats the worst case scenario if I make this change? Can I deal with that? I solve some of my biggest problems this way, finding silence and privacy, speaking my problems aloud to myself. If you can find one hour to do this, it can be as enlightening as actual therapy.
