This guy makes a good point.... My advice has been to pursue passion to everyone, but not necessarily for work. Most people equate living with what you do, not who you are. Hobbies once they are work change. Trust me. So yes pursue passion, but also pursue work that contributes to society, and makes you a better person. I also say to young people people, enjoying work isnt so much about what job you do, its who you do it with. If you enjoy the people with you, youll enjoy the job. If the people in the job cause division and slander each other, you wont enjoy it even if its your passion. I worked in a factory from the age 19-27yo, and the group of guys I worked with were like working with a bunch of mates (in fact some still are), so even though the work wasnt that interesting, we all had such a good time. So work was not a burden to go to. Another job was the perfect job, I had the chance to be creative, help young people, do all the things I enjoy (even surf on occasion) yet there were some manipulative and controlling people who were slaves to the opinions of others, and made work for not only me but many many others unbearable at times. So from then on, I saw that who you are is so much more important than what you do. And this should be taught equally as much as what to do in life. Now Im one of the few who has incorporated what theyre passionate about- made it a career, work with champions, and Im slowly working towards a university degree to put back into the society that helped me get to where I am. I even think those nasty people from the past helped me pursue my passions, so even the squids can produce something positive in your life if you try to look for the positive in every situation! Lukes rant over- back to the editing!
