This interesting article popped up in my email this morning. The concept of artificial photosynthesis taking place in man made objects, cleaning our air and providing us with clean fuel as a by-product, is something I wrote about in a short story many years ago. I thought of man made trees being planted in our urban environments, but then, knowing how we like to make as much profit from something as possible, my story ended with even more forests being removed so that the more efficient man made trees could be "planted" in their place. The author of this article believes however that such a break through in technology would instead completely change the thought processes that currently restrict our attempts to protect our forests and other natural environments. By being able to replicate and in fact enhance the process of photosynthesis we humans would be more inclined to protect the remainder of our natural systems. Hmm...
