However, if you live in a part of America that has an official language in addition to English, like Puerto Rico, Guam, Hawaii, American Samoa, or the Northern Marianas Islands, or if you live in a part of the country with no official language like Connecticut, Delaware, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, or the District of Columbia, or if you are a Native American or Alaskan Native whose language was here before English, or if you live in a de facto non-English speaking part of the country because a different language predates the United States, like in parts of Texas, Maine, Louisiana, and New Mexico and other instances such as the Pennsylvania Dutch and other Amish communities or if you live in a part of the United States controlled by the Federal Government under the United States Constitution, which specifies no official language (for example: the entire United States of America), you can stay.
